Swim team- last weekly update
Hi,
This Tuesday is our last meet of the season! We are away at Lakemont and I am hoping that the weather is much better than last week. Thank you all very much for your patience and willingness to come back last Wednesday. We could not do this without support from you all! I have been doing this for many years and I can honestly say that this season you all stepped up more than any previous year! Thank you to all of you for making this such a great season!
This update includes information on:
- Tuesday 7/14 meet away at Lakemont
- Munchin Marlins 7/13
- Awards Ceremony 7/15
- Summary of Action Items- due Sunday 7/12 at 6 PM
Meet 7/14- Away against Lakemont:
Please plan to be on deck ready to stretch at 5:15 PM, our in-pool warmup time is 5:25. As always Coach Sam needs to enter the lineup so please declare your swimmer as attending or not attending by 6 PM tonight.
If there are any declaration changes please text Coach Sam (919-455-4975) and me (919-345-9359) immediately so we can adjust our lineup.
**Meet details are posted at the bottom of this message. Please note that there is a Pre-order Dominoes pizza link available for their concessions.
Munchin Marlins Monday 7/13 Thank you to Lauren Ward for hosting last week's Make Your Own Bowl themed dinner. Thank you to Brianna Maples for hosting our final dinner of the season- theme is Pizza Night :)
Brianna will be ordering Pizza and Salad (Manhattan Pizza) and the cost will be $5 per swimmer participating. You can bring cash or venmo her at @brianna-grover
There are a few signups available for Fruit, dessert and Drinks.
***Since we are ordering food it is vital that we have a correct count so please RSVP as soon as you can. Deadline is tomorrow at 8 AM.
Awards Ceremony- will be held at the pool on 7/15 at 6 PM. We will do a potluck followed by award presentations. If a group of you would like to get together and bring a larger main dish please feel free (think nugget trays or something like that.)
**If you have any pictures from throughout the season please send them to Coach Sam ([email protected] or 919-455-4975) so that she can create a slideshow.
** Thank you Connie for once again spearheading the Coach's Gift collection. These Coaches often turn down other higher paying jobs so that they can coach and mentor our swimmers because they want to give back to our team. Any gift to them is extremely appreciated.
** Saving Grace Fundraiser- each year we hold a fundraiser to support this great cause. If you would like to donate (food, office and cleaning supplies, water, towels, hot dogs, etc.) please bring those items to the ceremony and we will drop them off at Saving Grace.

LAKEMONT MEET DETAILS:
Directions and Parking
Our street address is 409 Harvard Street, Raleigh. We reserve the pool parking lot for guests. Once the spaces are full you are welcome to pull into the dirt along the far side of the parking lot and park along the field area. Parking is limited so any effort your families can make to carpool would be greatly appreciated. If necessary overflow parking can be on the street. Please be respectful of the homes on the street not blocking driveways.
Concessions
We have a team-run concession stand during home meets with proceeds benefiting the swim team. We do a pre-order for full pizzas and sell slices for $3 each. The deadline to order a full large pizza is Monday at 8pm. We order from dominos. Purchase Pizza from this link- PIZZA Pre-Order Cash and cards are accepted. There is a $3 minimum to use a credit card.
Pool Deck & Swimming Lanes
We have 6 swimming lanes. We will set up the Manchester clerk of course benches behind the diving well. The space behind the blocks is limited. Your team is welcome to set up along the side of the pool that has the diving well, this is the side you will walk in on. The meet administrator table will be set up on the visitor's team side near the diving well. We do have deck furniture out but extra camp chairs are always welcome as well!
Warm-Ups
We will get our swimmers in the pool at 5:00 for warmups and exit at 5:25 allowing your team access from 5:30-5:55.
Extra Events
We love to include the parents and coaches in the fun. After the completion of the meet we will call for a parent and coaches relay. We generally have 2 teams; one of parents and the other of coaches to compete. We invite you to form teams as well!!
Timing and Judging
We appreciate you having 6 timers available Tuesday evening. We will be using Time Drops as our timing system and will supply your timers with everything they need. We will have an Order of Finish judge who will work collaboratively with your Order of Finish judge as a supplement to our timing system.
Dive Over Starts
In order to maintain a quick pace of the meet, we will be doing Dive Over Starts. At the completion of a race the swimmers will stay in the water while the next heat starts. Then once the next race has started the swimmers can quickly exit the pool. We will also start the next 6&U heat once all kids have crossed the rope. So if you need to assist kids to the wall you might want two kid catchers.
Officials Meeting
Timers, judges, TSA Reps, will meet near the covered shelter along the far fence to go over final meet instructions at 5:40PM.
Awards
At the meet, we will hand out Heat Participant and Heat Winner ribbons as swimmers exit the pool. We will print ribbon labels on the pool deck and place them on the ribbons. We will have 1 ribbon writer for our team if you could supply one as well.
