Declaration changes:
If you have not declared your swimmers please do so now.
Any change you need to make (fingers crossed there are none 😊 ) should be reported immediately to Coach Sam (919-455-4975) and me (919-345-9359) as there are updates we need to make in the meet software and printouts for the meet.
Open Volunteer Positions:
Thank you to all who have signed up to volunteer. Currently, we have not filled the following positions for our meet tomorrow:
- Timers- we only have (3) and need (6)
- Order of Finish Judge
We cannot run the meet until these positions are filled.
Meet tomorrow- away at Durant Trails
For new swim parents there is more information on what to expect at a meet, what to bring, info about events, etc. located on our team website under the meets/events tab.
Please arrive at the pool no later than 5:15 so that you can set up and get your
swimmers ready. They will stretch at 5:15 and begin pool warm up at 5:30.
The meet starts promptly at 6 PM. Other meet details are at the bottom of this email.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Please do not leave the meet until you have checked in with Coach Sam. DO NOT tell another parent- it is not their responsibility to pass the info on to all of the people who need to know- Our Meet Admin, Clerk of Course for both teams, Kid Pushers, the Starter, Coaches trying to fill spots and account for 50+ kids, the Host Team Timing Admin- they all need to know and the ONLY way to ensure that happens is to tell Coach Sam. Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
Munchin Marlins-
Thank you to the Brin family for taking the lead this week for Chick Fil A night. Please remember to RSVP and venmo me @Jackie-Miller-160. Cost is $5 per swimmer. No items to donate- just need help serving.
Team Picture today:
We will start lining kids up at the end of 6 and Under Practice- picture will probably take place around 5:40 then we will start Munchin Marlins for 6 and Unders. Please remember to bring a Manchester Marlins shirt if you have one- can be from any year. I will have some extras for those who do not have one.
Bring water bottles to practice!
Even though swimmers are in the pool they can still get dehydrated. During this heat wave it is vital that you send your swimmers with water bottles for water breaks during practice.
Summary of actions needed:
- Volunteer if possible for last remaining open positions for tomorrow's meet
- Declare your swimmers if you have not already done so
- Notify Coach Sam and I immediately if there is a change to your declarations or job sign ups.
- Munchin Marlins- RSVP and venmo
- Signups for rest of season are open- meet declarations, Muchin Marlins lead and RSVP's etc.
Pasted below is information sent to me from our Durant Trails host. Thank you for your patience and for taking the time to read all of this! As always if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
GO MARLINS!

Parking--We try to leave the parking lot open for the visiting team, but it is a relatively small lot, so some of your families may have to park on the surrounding streets in the neighborhood. Please remind them to follow normal parking rules. Be mindful not to park at the base of driveways of the homes near the pool and not to park too close to the corners of the streets that intersect the pool.
Food--We have a fairly extensive concessions stand with everything from kielbasa to hamburgers, hotdogs, BBQ and pizza, chips, drinks, and candy. In addition, Kona Ice will be selling cool treats. We now take Venmo and, of course, cash.
Deck space and Seating--Durant has a relatively small deck, and it often becomes crowded rather quickly. Deck chairs will not be available, so please encourage your families to bring their own bag chairs. Your team will utilize the side with the blue canopy (as you enter the pool deck, go left)
Heat Accommodations: Because of the high temperatures we are expecting Tuesday night, we will be making our clubhouse available to anyone who is elderly or has medical issues. Our clubhouse is air conditioned and close to the races, but it is small and the floor can be slippery so we need to make sure that swimmers do not enter. Please let your families know that anyone who is elderly or has medical issues impacted by the heat is welcome to watch the meet, or just take a break, in the clubhouse.
In addition to the above, we will have a misting area on deck.
Please tell your families/spectators that they are welcome to wear their swimsuits and take a dip in the shallow end before the meet begins. We also may take a break or two during the meet for spectators to take a quick dip in the pool. Your team is welcome to bring canopies, but there is a large sunshade on your side of the deck.
