Munchin Marlins:
Tonight is pizza night (from Bella Italia.) Thank you to Lauren Ward for leading the dinner this week. Thank you, also, to those who signed up to bring additional food items.
There will be a $3 charge per plate, payable as cash or venmo @Jackie-Miller-160
We will need a lead for next week, please let me know if you are able and willing to volunteer.
Next Meet Tuesday June 18 at Meredith Townes:
Because there is so much information in this email I am going to send another one with specific details for this meet. I apologize for multiple emails but there is alot of information for that meet.
Volunteers needed for meet this week- we still need a Runner and 3 timers.
Swim Cap Update:
I believe everyone received a cap- if you did not, please let me know. We will have some at the next meet to distribute if your swimmer did not receive theirs at the last meet.
Ribbons:
I have distributed all ribbons. They are in the box in the kitchen with a folder for each family. Ribbons are not printed at the meet but are delivered afterwards, usually before Wednesday's practice.
Deadlines: Please remember to do the following by 6 PM on Sundays:
- Declare your swimmers
- Sign up for meet volunteer jobs
- RSVP for Munchin Marlins
- Sign up for Munchin Marlins additional food items.
Morning Practice starts this week: Tuesday and Friday 10-11 AM for 7 and Up, 11-11:30 AM for 6 and Unders.
Practice Changes: Please note:
- We will not hold practice on Friday 6/28, Thursday 7/4 and Friday 7/5. I apologize for any inconvenience.
- Thursday 11 and Up practices: For the past 2 weeks the only people who have attended this practice are our coaches. I am considering combining the 11 and Up's with the 7-10 group on Thursdays only. 6 and under would still swim 5-5:30 but everyone else would swim 5:30-6:30. I would like feedback from you all before I make a final decision. If you do not want me to combine I will not and will keep things the same.
July 4th week: If possible could you declare your swimmers for the meet on 7/2 if you know you are in town or not. Traditionally many people are not able to attend the meet during this holiday week and we would like to try to get an idea of what our attendance looks like this year.
Meet Recap
We had a very high percentage of swimmers attend this meet- thank you!! I am so grateful for all of the parents who reached out and offered to do any job where they were needed! With many new families this season I was amazed at how smoothly the meet ran. Concessions was a huge hit- the money we earn through the Garkalns family's hard work greatly benefits our team financially. We could not do this without all of our volunteers and you all have made the running of this season so easy this year! Thank you!
Final Score- Summerfield North 305, Manchester 197
We had so many great swims, from first timers to seasoned veterans. The atmosphere on deck was so enthusiastic- I loved hearing all of the cheering and seeing many swimmers and parents experience their first meet! No one wants to lose, but we were battling against a team more than double our size (we had 51, they had 108.) If you take out the relays we would have won!
Double Winners: Caroline Jones
Triple Winners: Mason Curtis, Dillon Wilson, Gavin Ivory, Camden Sant'Agata, Andrew Cook
Team AND Pool Record- Team records can be broken swimming in any pool (home or away) while a Pool Record must be done in our home pool only. Some of our Team and Pool records have held since the early 1990's. One such record (both Team and Pool) is the Boys 15-18 50 Free, which has stood since 1994. Well, no more!
Andrew Cook broke that 30 year old record with a time of 22.88. Congrats Andrew! I know what has been a goal of yours and we are proud of you!
Summary of actions needed:

Thank you for your patience and for taking the time to read all of this! As always if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
GO MARLINS!
