Munchin Marlins:
Theme this week is Breakfast for dinner. Main dishes will be $3 per swimmer, we are asking for some donations for Fruit and Dessert. Please RSVP on our website so that Ashley and Jennifer have an accurate headcount for main dishes.
Meet Tuesday July 11 @ Stonebridge:
Please declare your swimmer by Sunday at noon. As you will note below, Stonebridge holds a Parent Relay. If any Parents are interested, please let me know. I have asked them if we can do our normal Coaches Relay if we do not have enough Parent interest. I have also asked why all of these teams are doing the “fun” relays at the end of Breast Stroke...seems like a new thing this year.

SPECIAL EVENTS:
As it is our last home meet, we have six senior swimmers that we will be recognizing before the 15-18 freestyle event. We are also holding a food drive next week for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. If your team would like to contribute they are welcome to bring non-perishable food and non-food items to our pool. No pressure to contribute, but I thought we'd extend the invitation.
Additionally, if the weather and time are favorable, and enough parents are willing, we can hold a parent relay after the end of breaststroke.
SEATING AND WARM-UPS:
We have some deck seating available, but recommend that families bring chairs as things fill up quickly. Your team will set up on the far side of the pool near the deep end. You all will have the pool available for warm-ups starting at 5:30.
OFFICIALS MEETING:
We will have an officials meeting at 5:45 near the USA flag by the restrooms.
Looking forward to a fun meet!
Volunteers needed for 7/11 Meet
Sign ups are open. Vacant positions are:
- Clerk of Course
- Floater/Assistant Clerk
- Timers- need 4 – we will be using stopwatches and timer sheets, 8 lane pool.
- Order of Finish Judge
- Kids Pushers- need 7/8 and 9/10
Thank you to all our Marlins Parents for being so willing to Volunteer this year. I know in the past it was a requirement to volunteer at a minimum of 3 meets and this year, due to our smaller size, many of you all have been volunteering at every meet. Your support is appreciated beyond words!!
Ribbons from last week:
Ribbons are in your family folders in the kitchen
T Shirts and Team Picture on Monday 7/10
I have been holding off on taking our Team Picture in order to have the most swimmers be able to attend, was also hoping to have our shirts. I cannot wait any longer and our Team Picture will be taken Monday 7/10 at 5 PM. Fingers crossed that our shirts will be here, but if not, please let me know if you do not have one and I will find some.
Last Home Meet Special Events:
We will be holding our annual 6 and Under Butterfly Race at the end of Breast Stroke at our final home meet. Swimmers do not have to swim butterfly- they just need to swim the entire length of the pool, instead of to the yellow rope (Kid catchers will still help those who need assistance.) Each swimmer who participates will receive a cupcake. I will be adding the cupcake donation to our Final Concessions donation sign up once I receive the headcount from our Visiting Team. If any swimmer has dietary restrictions please let me know so that we can accommodate everyone.
We will also be honoring our Senior Swimmers- long time Marlins Allie Pratt and Samantha Miller. This will occur before the 15-18 Freestyle events.
End of Season Awards Banquet:
Tentatively set for Wednesday 7/19 as a Potluck at the pool. I say tentative because in the event that our final Tuesday night meet has a weather delay and needs to be finished on Wednesday we will need to have a back up plan. Not sure what that plan is yet- any ideas please let me know. It’s difficult to find a day after the season that works for everyone ☹ If anyone would like to Chair this event for next year please let me know.
Please forward to Coach Sam ([email protected]) any pictures you have from the Season that you would like included in a slide show she will compile. Please also feel free to print and post any pictures on our Marlins Bulletin Board at the pool, or send to me to post on our website.
Meet Recap
Our small little family of 28 Marlins swimmers hosted around 90 Lake Park Marlins last week. We held our heads high and swam our little hearts out. Shout out to Kara Gustafsson for filling in for our Announcer- we wanted the meet to be fun and she certainly helped accomplish that- even more special since she didn’t have any kids swimming! Many kids who do not always have the chance to swim main events or relays were able to do so. We only had 2 (out of 10) natural relay teams (8 and U and 9-10 Boys) and managed to fill only 3 other relay teams (9-10 G, 13-14 B and 15-18 Girls.) Our opponents had natural relays in every age group which gave them basically 90 unanswered points. Taking those points out of consideration the score would have been much closer! I hope that everyone still had a fun time at the meet.
Final Score- Lake Park 340, Manchester 153
Double Winners: Mason Curtis, Abbot Keigan, Campbell Keigan, Sam Miller
Triple Winners: Andrew Cook, Claire Curtis, Carpenter Keigan
Relay Swim Ups: Thank you to the following swimmers who swam up in a relay:
- Emma Kincaid (7), Campbell Keigan (5) and Adelie Brodzinki (5) swam with 9-10 Girls,
- Gavin Ivory (12) and Jake Huffine (11) swam with 13-14 Boys,
- Ryland Luberecki (14) and Emily Onesti (14) swam with 15-18 Girls.
Thank you again to all those who swam and volunteered.
North Raleigh Championship Meet Sunday July 16- DEADLINE EXTENDED TO 8 pm TONIGHT
We currently have 23 swimmers signed up. I am extending the deadline until 8 PM tonight in case anyone else wants to join in! For the morning session we currently have relays for * 8 and Under Boys only. (would love to get one more 8 and Under Girl and one more 9-10 Boy as we have 3 in each of those age groups.) For the afternoon we have teams for both 13 and Up Boys and Girls.
