Volunteers needed for next meet
First, thank you to Kelley Onesti for taking the time to get certified as a Stroke and Turn Judge for this week! The following jobs are still open:
- Clerk of Course
- 9-10 kid Pusher
- Order of Finish Judge
- 3 Timers (we will use their Dolphin timing system)
Ribbons:
There was an issue when NRSC printed ribbons- we have been working to get that corrected and I will have everyone’s ribbons in their folder in the swim team box in time for Munchin Marlins.
Meet Recap
Thank you to all of our Marlins families who came out on a very wet and chilly night. Your willingness to attend and stay throughout the entire meet is appreciated more than you could know. If anyone was wondering why we did not switch to just main events and instead swam the entire meet, our team prides itself on our sportsmanship. We never let a swimmer swim alone and we always stay in the water until all swimmers in a heat reach the wall. All swimmers matter, heat or main event. We all swim or no one swims. I apologize if this philosophy made for a longer meet in less-than-ideal conditions but we feel it is important.
While we did not win, the Marlins coaches and I were very proud of our team. To be honest I was hoping to just break 90 points- the NRSC team is very strong with many year round swimmers. We had entire age groups with no swimmers or 1-2 while they had full relays and full age groups. Our 40 swimmers (against their 116) swam their hearts out and had many best times. One official from their team stated that we may have only brought 40 swimmers but they were all very good!
Final Score- NSRC 365, Manchester 146
Double Winners: Claire Curtis and Gavin Ivory
Triple Winners: Andrew Cook and Sam Miller
Team Record- Gavin Ivory tied Boys11-12 50 Fly time of 29.49!
