Hi Marlin Families,

I am very excited for the first meet tomorrow, along with the first Munchin Marlins of the season tonight. This update has alot of info, please take the time to read it all and contact me with any questions. Thank to you everyone for declaring your swimmers- I am thrilled that we have 95% of the team signed up to swim tomorrow- thank you all so much!

Munchin Marlins:

We will be having pizza (cheese and pepperoni) along with salad, fruit and dessert. Drinks will not be provided, but your swimmers should have their water bottles with them for practice. All items should be at the pool no later than 4:45 PM (you can drop them off earlier and leave in the kitchen.)

There will be a $2 charge per slice if your child would like pizza. Please venmo Jennifer Curtis (@Jennifer-Curtis-23) with your payment. Thank you again to Jennifer and
Ashley!

Swimmingly Registration:

There are still 17 swimmers not registered in Swimmingly. I will send out reminders and instructions to those 9 families individually. For clarification, this is a one time registration and is for timing purposes only. Once registered in Swimmingly your swimmer will be assigned a number which will be used for all timing. This is the only time you will go into Swimmingly this season. Everything else you will do is on our Manchester Swimtopia page.

Declaration changes:

Any change you need to make (fingers crossed there are none 😊 ) should be reported immediately to Coach Sam (919-455-4975) and me (919-345-9359) as there are updates we need to make in the meet software.

Open Volunteer Positions:

Thank you to all who have signed up to volunteer. Currently, we have not filled the following positions for our first meet:

  • OOF (Order of Finish Judge)
  • Head Timer
  • 3rd Timer
  • Back- up Timer

If you have any questions about what these positions entail please let me know. They are all able to be performed by inexperienced volunteers- no one would be left alone. The OOF Judge which is a new position that replaced Place Judges. This person watches main event finishes and records the order of finish MAIN EVENT HEATS ONLY and gives Place Sheets to Runner for scoring. We cannot hold the meet without one OOF Judge for our team.

T-shirts:

We will be ordering Manchester Marlins T-shirts. I apologize for the delay, we have been experiencing difficulties getting quotes. I am hoping to have the final information
published tomorrow- you will be able to purchase and pay through our Manchester
Marlins website. I will send an update when ordering is live.

Coach Sam's Update:

Thank you to all who attended time trials. Also, a huge thank you to all of the older swimmers who stayed and helped with the 6 and Unders! We could not do this without you. Thank you to Heather for being the Starter and for the many parents who timed.

Coach Andrew and Coach Emily will be filling in for me during practice tonight since I am Graduating tonight! I have left them instructions for practice sets. I will see everyone at practice on Tuesday morning.

Swim Cap Update:

Swim Caps have been ordered and are enroute. Just in case they do not make it before tomorrow’s meet we are asking all returning swimmers to please try to use previous years caps. We do have an inventory of caps that will be given out on a priority basis- new swimmers first then any recurring swimmer who cannot locate theirs from previous years. You may also use a plain swim cap of your own- no logos and blue or white preferred.

Swimmers Numbers before meet:

We are requesting that you write with a Sharpie your swimmers number on their right arm and left shoulder prior to arriving at the pool for the meet. I will post, tomorrow, a list of swimmers/numbers on the team website under the Meets and Events tab. If
you are not able to do this we can still get their numbers written at the meet, it is just much easier and less chaotic when they are not sweaty and wet!

Summer practice hours:

Please note that starting today practice will follow summer hours. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday will remain the same while Tuesday and Friday will have AM practice from 10-11:30.

Meet tomorrow- at home vs Springdale:

For new swim parents there is more information on what to expect at a meet, what to bring, info about events, etc. located on our team website under the meets/events tab. Please arrive at the pool no later than 4:45 so that you can set up and get your
swimmers ready. They will stretch at 4:45 and begin pool warm up at 5:00.
The meet starts promptly at 6 PM. Please remember that we reserve
our parking lot for the visiting team. We will have concessions available: Water,
Gatorade, soft drinks, fruit, baked goods, snacks and candy, pizza and meatball
sliders (which were the bomb last year!) Waves Artisan Shave Ice will also be
on site! Thanks to the Garkalns family for handling Concessions and to Alej Keigan
for arranging the food truck.

Summary of actions needed:

By 6 PM tonight please
do the following if you have not done so:

  • Register swimmers in Swimmingly

Tuesday before the meet:

  • Locate previous year swim caps if possible
  • Volunteer if possible for last 4 remaining open positions
  • Write swimmers numbers on arms/shoulders
  • notify Coach Sam and I immediately if there is a change to your declarations or job sign ups.

Thank you for your patience and for taking the time to read all of this! As always if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

GO MARLINS!
