North Raleigh Championship Meet

Hi All,

Every season there is a Championship Meet for TSA Summer League- for the last decade we have participated in the North Raleigh Championship hosted by the Marlins of Raleigh as opposed to the much larger TSA Meet held at Triangle Aquatic Center with all 88 teams. The North Raleigh Championship Meet is a much smaller meet, much better suited for our small team.

Location:

A.E. Finley Athletic Center Ravenscroft School, 7409 Falls of the Neuse Road

Parking will be available in the main lot in front of the building. Please enter from the Falls of Neuse entrance and follow all the way back of campus. Follow signs for the Finley Center and enter through the front doors turn right.

TIMES:

10-unders: Warm-ups 8am- meet starts 9:15am

11-Over: Warm-ups 12pm- meet starts1:00pm

In the past this meet was attended by 7-8 other teams from our area. It is run in the same order as a normal dual meet that we do every Tuesday night, but there a couple of differences. You may swim all strokes- so a 6 and Under would swim all 3 and 7-Up would swim all 4 strokes as scoring events. Any swimmer in any "heat" can earn points for the team, unlike Tuesday night where only main event swimmers can score. Relays are 8 and Under, 9-10, 11-12 and 13 and Up.

Any age can swim, but for 6 and Unders they must be able to swim unassisted the whole length of the pool. If you are not sure if your swimmer can do this, please talk with Coach Sam.

Parents are not on deck with swimmers. The swimmers all sit as a team in the gym and are walked out to the pool deck by our kid pushers (usually the Junior Coaches or one parent) when it is time for their events. You may sit with them in the gym and they when they are led to the pool deck you can go to the observation balcony to watch the actual race.

Please note that there is a fee. Individual Events per event $6.00, Relays $2.00 per swimmer, and Facility Fee per swimmer $10.00 ( A swimmer swimming 4 individual events and being on both relays would pay $38.00, which is the maximum fee.) I pay for the meet in advance and collect the fees back from participants.

We have won this meet most years, largely because we were always able to fill out complete relays in each age group. The teams that participated were smaller like ours and all the kids who have swam in the past really enjoyed it. Please feel free to speak to some of the older kids, or to ask me or Coach Sam any questions you may have.

The sign up is live, the deadline to declare your swimmer is Friday July 8 at 9 PM.

Thanks!

Jackie Miller

** One last item- Graduating seniors are eligible for our $400 Scholarship from The Marlins Of Raleigh Swim Team. There is a form to hand in with your entries OR at check in at the meet. The winner will be chosen that day and we will announce/notify the Coach of the Winners Team
