Meet recap and action items for the upcoming meet on 6/21
Hi,
I just wanted to send a quick note out about the meet tonight and to let you know about some action items to be done before next Tuesday. I will send a full update later this week.
Meet: Harrington Grove 265 Manchester 249
GO MARLINS! You all should be so proud of yourselves and of our team! The score, showing a loss by just 16 points, does not tell the whole story.
HG swam 156 swimmers tonight and we swam just 58. They are seeded 11th in our region (of 44 teams) and we are seeded 13th. Our small but mighty team came so close, two more relay wins would have swung the outcome in our favor. For those of you new to swimming, only swimmers placing in 1st, 2nd or 3rd in the main event earn points for our team and we had 38 swimmers score points! That is a huge accomplishment!
Score aside, I truly feel that we were the winners in sportsmanship. Thank you to all of the swimmers who stayed in the water until everyone had completed swimming in their event, to everyone for being respectful of the HG facility and cleaning up our area after the meet, and to all of the swimmers watching and cheering each other on! It was great to see! Thank you, also, to the 23 official Marlins Parent volunteers, along with the countless additional parents who stepped up to help in a non-official capacity. We could not do this without you!
Along with the many new personal best times we had some double/triple winners and a new team record.
Double winner: Mason Curtis
Triple Winners: Dillon Wilson, Logan Bolduc and Parker Bolduc.
New team record- 15-18 Girls 50 free Parker Bolduc
Times will be published in the next day or so and HG will be dropping off ribbons hopefully on Thursday.
Other News and Action Items:
Munchin Marlins for Monday 6/20- sign up is active- please RSVP and sign up to bring food times. The theme is Italian Night.
Concessions for Home meet on Tuesday 6/21- The sign up is live, I have updated the quantities of some items, please review and sign up if you are able to contribute items that help us host our home meets.
Meet on Tuesday 6/21- please declare your swimmers and sign up for volunteer positions- most are filled but there are still a few left. IMPORTANT: Our dedicated MSRC Pool President Matt Fontaine has been our announcer for years, even though he has no swimmers on the team. He needs to leave by 6:45 on Tuesday so we need someone to fill in for him and be the Announcer. There is a script to go by :)
Food Truck tomorrow night at the pool parking lot- Hope to see many of you there!
Thanks again to everyone for a fantastic swim meet. I hope all of the swimmers had fun and enjoyed a real, in person swim meet. It feels great to be back to normal!
Thanks Everyone!
Jackie
